FLIPPER

OBJECTIVE

Under this system, the flipper should be able to tackle the obstacle: a sliding door (Portcullis).

DESIGN

  • The curve is designed on top so that when going through the Portcullius, the flipper is only required to lift a bit or even drive through, and the doors would slide through as demonstrated in Figures below.

  • The weight relief design depends on the material of the flipper - the final design is a hole in at the base.

RESULTS

In the end, we went with the polycarbonate material to save weight. The flippers were essential to the robot and were able to easily transverse over the Portcullis and other obstacles easily as well.
